A Soviet Чайка ladies' watch set in an integrated bracelet of large faceted cat's eye stones — six trapezoidal links in deep burgundy, cream, and dark grey with the characteristic chatoyant shimmer running across each face. The oval case is gold-tone with a knurled diamond-cut bezel. White dial with full Arabic numerals, Чайка branding in Cyrillic, and delicate black hands. The clasp end carries plain gold-tone links. Made at the Uglich Watch Factory in the 1980s.
The Uglich factory had been producing Chaika watches since 1963, the year they renamed in honor of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space. By the 1980s they were pairing their small mechanical calibers with semi-precious stone bracelets — cat's eye, malachite, amber — elevating what was functionally a mass-produced timepiece into something that felt like jewelry. This one reads as both.
Good vintage condition. Case and gold-tone hardware show light wear with some tarnishing at the bracelet connectors. Cat's eye stone links intact, no chips or cracks visible. Dial clean with legible branding. Recently serviced, running.
