description

A sleek Kiev Vega subminiature camera in brushed aluminum with elegant horizontal ribbing and cursive "Вега" (Vega) branding on the cover. This pocket-sized marvel uses 16mm film and features a sliding mechanism that reveals the lens and viewfinder. The side panel shows shutter speeds (30, 60, 200) and aperture settings (3.5 to 11), with the distinctive Arsenal factory logo engraved on the front plate. Serial number visible: 458.

The Vega was produced at the Arsenal factory in Kiev starting in the early 1960s, part of the Soviet fascination with miniaturization during the space age. These cameras evoke Cold War spy mystique, though they were actually marketed as everyday pocket cameras for Soviet citizens. The compact design made them popular for discreet street photography and travel.

Good vintage condition. Body shows surface wear and light scratches consistent with age. Some tarnishing and minor oxidation on metal surfaces. Mechanical components appear intact. Shutter and aperture controls move. Sold as collector's item; functionality not guaranteed.
