Chaika Motorcycle Watch, 1980s

Playful tonneau-shaped watch featuring a colorful motorbike rider in red and blue against a cream dial. Blue Arabic numerals ring the face with "Чайка" (Chaika/Seagull) branding and "17 камней" (17 jewels) indicating the manual wind movement inside. Chrome case paired with a matching jubilee-style bracelet bearing the Chaika logo on the clasp.

Made at the Chaika factory in Uglich, which specialized in compact movements for women's and children's timepieces. The motorcycle motif tapped into every Soviet kid's fantasy of one day tearing down the road on an IZH or Ural—the two-wheeled freedom machines that represented independence in a country where private cars were scarce. A charming piece of Soviet childhood nostalgia.
