A folded political-administrative reference map of the Армянская ССР, published in Moscow in 1988 by the Main Directorate of Geodesy and Cartography of the USSR Council of Ministers. Scale 1:400,000. The map shows all administrative districts in color-coded pastel fields with full settlement, road, and elevation data. Cities carry their Soviet names — Ленинакан, Кировакан, Чаренцаван — since renamed. Nagorno-Karabakh appears as a distinct enclave on the eastern border with Azerbaijan.
This map was printed the same year Armenians launched the Karabakh movement, the mass demonstrations that began the unraveling of Soviet control in the Caucasus. Within three years the Armenian SSR it depicts would cease to exist. The borders shown here represent a political geography that lasted less than four more years.
Good vintage condition. Cover shows light wear. Map intact, folds clean. Complete.
