This is issue #3 of Fizkul'tura i Sport (Физкультура и Спорт) from 1968, featuring a graceful cover photograph of an athlete with arms outstretched against a yellow-green backdrop. Inside includes a striking winter sports photo essay "Far and Near" with cross-country skiing scenes, families in the snow, and desert-like snowy landscapes. The back shows a lone skier on a frozen lake.
Fizkul'tura i Sport was founded in 1922 as the Soviet Union's premier sports magazine, publishing monthly from Moscow. More than just athletics coverage, the magazine promoted fizkultura (physical culture) as a civic duty alongside labor and military service, educating citizens on fitness, health, and the creation of the idealized Soviet New Person through sports.
Good vintage condition. Cover shows moderate edge wear and corner creasing. Pages intact with natural yellowing. Some spine wear. All pages intact.
